Look up a plate

Updated 2 min read

In short: type a plate and see whether it has a valid resident permit or guest pass, with a warning when two plates look almost the same. It’s free for partners.

Steps

  1. Accept the invite Each property you work with sends an invite to your company’s email. Accept it and set a password.
  2. Log in from any device Any phone or laptop with a browser. Nothing to install.
  3. Type the plate You see the result for the properties you’re invited to.
  4. Act on the result Then log what you see, with photos and notes.

The three results

Patrol accounts see one of three results, with the reason. Tow accounts see one answer: valid or not valid.

Result What it means What to do
Valid An active resident permit or guest pass at this property. You see which one, and when a guest pass ends. Nothing. The plate belongs here.
Not valid No active permit or pass right now. The lookup shows why. Follow your agreement with the property, and log what you see.
Close match This plate isn’t registered, but one that looks almost the same is. Check the plate again before any action.

Good to know

  • Every lookup is saved to the audit trail.
  • Close-match warnings and the reason a plate isn’t valid show on patrol accounts.
  • Plate lookup and the violation log cost partners nothing. No per-tow fees, referral payments or revenue share on tows.
  • Laneo shows whether a plate is valid. Towing decisions belong to the property and its licensed partner.
